Our story

Merit Iron opened its doors in May 1999. The principals came to it with more than forty years in steel fabrication between them, and built the company around full-service welding: field welding, architectural and structural steel fabrication, and ornamental metal work.

Since then the work has grown from Winnipeg jobs to sites across Manitoba, into Northern Canada and Ontario, and across the country. The shop drafts in-house, fabricates on Logan Avenue, delivers on its own trucks and erects with its own crew.

Some of the contractors we work with have been calling since 2002. That kind of repeat business is the best measure we know.

Plan, fabricate, verify, deliver

Four stages, one company. The same people who draw it build it, check it and set it.

    Plan

    Discovery and quoting, then detailing and approval. We read the drawings, ask the questions and model the steel before anything is ordered.

  2. 02

    Fabricate

    Cut, fitted and welded in our Logan Avenue shop by CWB-certified welders.

  3. 03

    Verify

    Pieces are checked against the approved shop drawings before they’re finished and loaded.

  4. 04

    Deliver

    Our trucks deliver in erection order and our crew installs, plumbs and closes out.

Where we work

Most of our steel goes up around Winnipeg, but the trucks travel. We’ve installed at Cross Lake in northern Manitoba and take work across Manitoba, Northern Canada, Ontario and beyond.
